Class Update November 27 Week
Thank you to everyone who was a guest at our Thanksgiving Feast. The people, food, and fun – especially love- filled our room. We hope you had a wonderful time. Just a few more weeks until our Winter Break! Here are some details about this week:
*In the next week or so, we will be asking you to discuss family traditions at home and then share them (in writing) with the class. This will help the children better understand our Family Culture unit in Social Studies. Be thinking about things you do/celebrate together.
*If anyone has a holiday tradition that they would like to share with all our children, please let us know, and we will schedule time for you to come in (we can read a story, do a craft, sing a song, and/or eat something special).
*A Signup has been posted for our Winter Party that will take place on December 15th. Thank you for helping to make our occasions festive and fun.
*We have one available Mystery Reader spot open for next Friday, December 8th if anyone is interested. Please sign up via Shutterfly.

Curriculum Notes for the Week:
*Morning Work: The children will take a few minutes to practice activities with the letter E. After morning work, the children get to enjoy some playtime with their classmates.
*Happily Ever After (The Elves and the Shoemaker): We will begin our unit this week by listening to the story, doing a listening comprehension activity, playing the Stoplight Game (to identify top, middle, bottom), and learning parts of a whole (the sleeve belongs to a jacket).
*Letter (E): This week we will read books with letter e sounds. We will identify upper and lowercase e, determine pictures that begin with e, and create a dinosaur egg.
*Science (Healthy Habits): This week we will discuss our senses during the seasons. We will read a book about gingerbread and use our senses (taste, touch, sight, smell, hearing) to enjoy a gingerbread cookie.
*Social Studies (What is a Family?): We are revisiting some activities that we set aside from a couple of weeks ago. We will talk about what our grandparents’ nicknames are and what our nicknames are. We will also create some paper doll pictures and dictate sentences about them.
*Math: (Unit 1 = What are Numbers): This week we will finish our unit by sequencing stories and discussing different representations of numbers.
