Class Update December 18 Week

Greetings Families,
We will be together 4 days this week, and then Winter Break is here! Yahoo! Here are some details about this week:
Announcements
*Thank you for sending in items this week for your child to discuss family traditions at home. The children really enjoyed sharing stories and listening to/learning about others. Photos of our sharing experiences are on Shutterfly.
*Ms. Hannah was OVERWHELMED by the love and thoughtfulness of her surprises from the children. Thank you so much for making her feel so special and loved.
*Thank you very much to our class family members who donated items or who attended our Winter Party today. The children had a wonderful time, and Ms. Hannah and I were blown away by your warmth and generosity.
*Please note that Treehouse will dismiss at 5:30 on Monday due to a staff function. Thank you for picking up your little ones a little early that day.
*If you are reading this information, tell your child to quietly walk to up Dr. Hill on Monday (December 18th) when entering the classroom and whisper the secret word “gift.” It’s a secret, so tell him/her not to tell other classmates. He or she will receive a special treat  – thank you for following along with our classroom newsletters!
*Math, Name writing, Letter/Sound assessments, as well as anecdotal observations are being conducted and will be sent home when ready. They could go home toward the end of next week or after the Winter Break in January.

*Reading: We will be reading different stories and working on fun crafts this week.
*Science (Healthy Habits): This week we will (hopefully) discuss how to correctly brush teeth.
*Social Studies (Family Culture): We are talking about our family origins. Thank you for filling out and sending in the family letter that asked for birthplaces of family members. Kudos to the children who wrote in the information themselves! Yay!
*Math: (Unit 2 = The Shape of Things): This week we will continue our unit by identifying and coloring certain shapes and by making shape cubes for a game we will play in January.
*We will get to meet with our Book Buddies this week, and we will continue familiarizing the children with center time in order to prepare them for when literacy activities begin in January.
