Class Update January 8 Week
Happy New Year here at Wood Acres! Here are some details about this week:
*Recent classroom observations and math/literacy assessments have been sent home. We are very proud of all the hard work and learning the children have done.
*Please sign up for conferences via Shutterfly. For this conference, it really is best to come in and chat rather than talk on the phone. I look forward to chatting with you about your child’s progress and showing you the progress report.
*The children are ready to progress to handwriting the alphabet letters, so you will see more of this coming home. We will introduce how to correctly form letters and continue to practice with the children a little bit each week.
*As a reminder, if you need to make an afternoon Treehouse reservation, please first go through firstname.lastname@example.org to make sure there is enough space for your child. You can cc me on that email.
*Please read all newsletters for important dates, especially for early dismissal days.

Curriculum Notes for the Week:
*Morning Work: The children will take a few minutes to practice activities with the letter C. After morning work, the children get to enjoy some playtime with their classmates.
*Happily Ever After (Jingles, Poems, and Rhymes): We will begin our unit this week by listening to the text, tracing shapes, identifying position words, and reviewing parts of a whole.
*Letter (C): This week we will read books with letter c sounds. We will identify upper and lowercase c, determine pictures that begin with c, and create cotton ball clouds.
*Science (Healthy Habits): This week we will color “I take care of my body” mini-books.
*Social Studies (Many Kinds of Homes): We are talking about the different types of homes that people live in. We will look at the types of houses and match homes to their environments.
*Math: (Unit 2 = The Shape of Things): This week we will continue our unit by matching parts of symmetric shapes and discussing 3-D shapes.
If there is anything we can do for you, please let us know.
