Dear Parents,

Can you believe kiddos are halfway through their third grade year already?! What progress they’ve made! Report cards will be coming home on Thursday of next week. Please review, sign, and return both the report card and envelope.

Important Notes:
On Thursday, February 15, we will have our annual field trip! This year we will travel downtown to the Synchronicity Theater to enjoy the performance of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. I am in need of two chaperones, so please let me know if you would be interested in joining us. Thanks!

What’s Going on in our Classroom:
Reading: We continue to read Kate DiCamillo’s The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. Students are working through a comprehension packet and should be writing all questions in cursive and complete sentences.

Writing: Students are creating “onomatopoetry” after becoming inspired by Marilyn Singer’s, Quiet Night.

Grammar: We will finish up articles next week and begin comparing adjectives using more and most.

Spelling: Due to the short week there will be no spelling next week.

Vocabulary: Due to the short week there will be no vocabulary next week.

Math: We got a sense of division this week and applied our facts to see how close our divisor could go into our dividend without going over. We will dive deeper next week and practice some long division. Knowing those math facts will be key! Also, division packets went home this week and are due on January 24.

History: Our Viking test will be on Monday, January 22. Study guides are coming home with them today and will be due next Thursday in class.

Science: A skeletal system test will be Thursday, January 18. Notebooks are coming home today for studying.
