What’s Going on in our Classroom:
Reading: We are about halfway through, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, by Kate DiCamillo, and working on our comprehension packet. Students should be restating the question when they answer a comprehension question.
Spelling: No spelling next week. We are taking a small break and resuming the following week.
Vocabulary: No vocabulary next week.
Writing: We have been researching and writing about Martin Luther King, Jr. Your child can use www.britannica.com (an online encyclopedia) to help them find information about their Living Museum individual. Username: woodacres /password:learn. We are learning about different databases to conduct our research, and the difference between a reliable source, and one that is not.
We will be discussing the use of onomatopoeia, and writing a story using onomatopoeia.
Math: We will be learning about area, perimeter, and ordered pairs in geometry. We will also begin long division!
Grammar: We continue to learn about adjectives.
History:
Our Viking test will be Monday, January 22. Study guides are coming home with them today and will be due next Thursday in class.
Science: Skeletal System test on Thurs., Jan. 18th. Study guide will go home next week.
As always, if you have any questions please contact me.
