3rd grading period is here!

Hello Everybody,
I hope you are enjoying your long weekend and can find some time to continue what Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. started so many years ago. He is an inspiration to me, and I work hard every day to instill his values in my daily life. Life is definitely busy but taking a few minutes to help someone in any way can be that smile that person needs to make the day better. Being kind is always fashionable and friendly.
Today, I am working on report cards, weekly lesson plans, and what’s to come in the near future. I hope your student showed you the bright green sheet in their homework or Friday folder. This paper is your invitation to come join us for the next book report presentations on Friday, March 16. Yes, this date is far away but it will be here before we know it. Take a look at the times for you to come in and watch your student present along with the other students in that time frame. Let me know in order of preference which times work well with your schedule and return your choices to me as soon as you can. When I have all 22 sheets back, I will work on the schedule so you know exactly what time your student will present his or her book report.
For this upcoming week, your student will have a reading quiz, vocabulary quiz, and spelling test on Wednesday, January 17. All of these pieces to study should be in your student’s reading or homework folder. I did all I could to make sure this important information went home to study and practice sometime this weekend. Fingers crossed that you find them.
In math, we are continuing to practice long division, so if you can help your student review the multiplication and division math facts that would help them tremendously. Shhh, there could be a division pop quiz one day this week.
Unit 4 is all about Adjectives, Adverbs, and Prepositions which we are doing quite well with right now. My plans are for a quiz probably next Wednesday, January 24, but we have a week to continue to learn, review, and recall.
Sunday, January 28 is the big Wood Acres Open House. It’s hard to believe that we are halfway through 4th grade and your student will soon go upstairs for 5th grade. Please make plans to attend from 2:00-4:00 p.m. to meet and talk with Mrs. Rozier and Mrs. Armstrong. They will glad to tell you all that your student will learn during that year.
Well, that’s all I have for now. Thanks for returning the book report information when you can, and I hope the rest of your long weekend is wonderful.
Yours truly,
Cheryl Leagan
