Class Update January 16 Week

Greetings Families,
We hope you enjoyed the long weekend with one another! Here are some details about this week:

*If you notice any signs of illness in your child, please keep him/her home and consult with your health care provider for proper treatment regimes.
*Thank you for signing up for a conference date/time. I look forward to chatting with you.
*Thank you to Ms. Hannah for holding down the fort while I was out sick with the flu. The children and I are grateful for you.
*Please join us at Wood Acres on Sunday, January 28 for Open House. This would be an excellent time to visit the kindergarten classrooms to get to know the teachers and the curriculum. Stop by and say hi in this room as well.

Curriculum Notes for the Week:
*Morning Work: The children will take a few minutes to practice activities with the letter O. After morning work, the children get to enjoy some playtime with their classmates.
*Happily Ever After (Jingles, Poems, and Rhymes): We will continue our unit this week by listening to the text, identifying position words, and identifying sequences of sounds.
*Letter (O): This week we will read books with letter o sounds. We will identify upper and lowercase o, determine pictures that begin with o, and create an octopus.
*Social Studies (Many Kinds of Homes): We will match homes to their environments.
*Math: (Unit 2 = The Shape of Things): This week we will continue our unit by naming 3-D shapes, matching symmetrical shapes, and identifying shapes (assessment).
