We finished our unit on our super kid, Hot Rod. The children did a good job of printing their H letter and learning their H words. Our word list will be on Tuesday. Remember, they need to be able to read the word to me quickly without sounding aloud. Please have your child also read pages 9-11 in the Hot Rod workbook. We have been reading it over in class. The students have been reading the “Bob books” to me on a daily basis. I am looking for fluency. I will begin to send home a book packet to read at home. This will be done on a rotating basis. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of having your child read text to you. We want them to be ready for first grade and it is fast approaching.
The students did very well on the three letter dictation test. I was very pleased!
Please continue practicing handwriting. I have seen great improvement and I am very proud of them for practicing and working so hard on those letters.

The class did an awesome job learning one half, halves, and a whole. They grasped probability fairly well and did very well on showing all combinations of given items. We will have our Chapter 6 test on Monday, 1/22. They are ready! Tuesday begins Chapter 7 addition. More info will follow concerning 100th day of school which occurs this coming week.

We started our pre lab on the 5 senses and we will begin our experiments to show how we use the senses.

We covered MLK briefly and we will talk about him again and complete a writing on how to show friendship and kindness.

We will resume our regular library schedule this Tuesday. We are all anxious to check out a new book! Additionally, P.E. is back in full swing for Monday so wear those sneakers! I’m sure the kids will be happy to see Mrs. Goodson and get some energy flowing!

Thank you for your support and if there are any questions, feel free to call or email me.
