Class Update January 29 Week

Greetings Families,
We hope you enjoyed the weekend and our Wood Acres Open House if you attended. Here are some details about this week:

*If you notice any signs of illness in your child, please keep him/her home and consult with your health care provider for proper treatment regimes.
*Many signups have been posted today on Shutterfly for Mystery Reading, Donations, Valentine Party items, and our 100th Day treats. Thank you, in advance, for singing up for something to send in. We TRULY appreciate your support.
*Our Pajama Day will take place this Friday, February 2. Please send your child in short/long-sleeved pajamas, long pajama pants, and tennis shoes. Your child can bring in a little blanket or stuffed animal, at least 5 books (labeled with child’s name), and a tent or teepee (walked in/picked up by an adult – not through carline, please). We will be doing fun activities, eating P snacks, and watching a movie that has P in the title.
*The class Valentine Card Name List went home today. Have fun working with your little ones as they handwrite their classmates’ names!

Curriculum Notes for the Week:
*Morning Work: The children will take a few minutes to practice activities with the letter P. After morning work, the children get to enjoy some playtime with their classmates.
*Happily Ever After (Jingles, Poems, and Rhymes): We completed this unit last week and will begin our new unit next week. In the meantime, we will have fun reading stories and completing projects about groundhogs.
*Letter (P): This week we will read books with letter P sounds. We will identify upper and lowercase p, determine pictures that begin with p, and create an penguin word wheel.
*Social Studies (Family as Community): We are beginning our new unit on how we help at home. Today we discussed rules we follow at school and at home. We will also discuss ways we help at home and illustrate pictures.
*Math: This week we will discuss numbers and how to count objects and match them to the correct numeral amount.
