News Flash!
Good Morning –
Mrs. Staggs and I were happy to end the week with no new cases of the flu. We are hopeful that we have seen the last of this flu season in our classroom and for each of your families.
Due to all of the absences, we have again delayed our progression in our curriculum. We will be filling our days trying to get back on track over the next couple of weeks. I want to be sure we spend the time so that the kids have enough exposure to the concepts and that they understand before we move on.
This week was full of kites, koalas, and kittens as we learned about the letter K. Next week the focus will be the letter U. Everyone is doing a great job fine tuning writing the letters in their names. They are also understanding how to use the letter sounds to create words in thier Monday Journals. Everyone should have had at least one of these come home by now. It is great to see what they enjoy drawing, as well as seeing how they are learning to use the letter sounds.
We finished up our last activity in the Math unit where we explored 3D shapes like a sphere, cube, cylinder and triangular prism. We will begin the third unit this week.
On Monday we will finally be able to meet up with our Book Buddies. After having six kids out last week, we thought it was best to push it back a week. We’re hoping to have all the students back tomorrow.
We had two Mystery Readers last week which is always fun. Remember to contact me if you would like to schedule a time that works better with your schedule.
This Thursday will be our 100th day of school. As many of you know this is a big day for most preschool an elementary students. We have a lot of fun counting to 100 in many ways. Please check their folders for a note about something that you can send in to help make it a fun day.
Our conferences are coming up after President’s Day on February 20th and 21st. Our preschool staff has a training scheduled to start at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, February 21st, so I need to fit everyone in before that. If you have a time that works best or that you cannot meet, please let me know as I will be creating the schedule sometime this week. Also, if anyone is planning to be out Thursday and Friday of that week, please let me know that as well.
Enjoy your Sunday –
