Greetings from Mrs. Leagan
Hello Everybody,
Despite the weather conditions this weekend, I hope you have had a great weekend with friends, family, and just enjoying the simple pleasures of life. I have been able to get some inside chores done which always feels good at the start of a busy week. Here is a quick rundown of all that’s happening in fourth grade.
Valentine’s Day is Wednesday. Hopefully, your student has the list of students’ names for our card exchange on Wednesday. Everybody decorated a shoebox into a mailbox for our special deliveries Wednesday morning. Please include a little extra something for your student’s book buddy as well. Thank you.
In Math, we are finishing up Chapter 5 on Long Division, so there will be a CYP quiz on Tuesday, a Chapter Test on Wednesday, and a Cumulative Review Test on Thursday.
In Grammar, everybody just took a quiz on Adjectives, so we will move on to the next parts of speech, Adverbs and Prepositions. Once these lessons are done, our students will be completing a cute project in class that will entice our taste buds. I’ll give more details later.
In Reading/Writing, everybody is almost done with their fantasy story on how each one becomes a hero in solving a problem to a dilemma that has occurred. These stories will be ready to be seen and read during our Parent/Teacher Conferences next Tuesday and Wednesday. Please, stop in and read how your amazing student saves the day.
Here’s a quick update on what’s happening in Reading. Now that we are done with our two novels, all of our students will gather the Friday after conferences to discuss and decide on our topic for the 4th Grade Book Project. This writing project will take the rest of February and all of March to complete because we need to send off our completed book to the publishing company before Spring Break. There will be more information to come as we begin the wonderful world of writing.
As far as Reading, your student will be given short stories to read, analyze, predict, summarize, along with other comprehension elements to complete each assignment. Once our book project is complete, we will return to reading fun stories that our students will love.
Thanks for your time, and I hope the rest of your week is pleasant with love and cheer.
Happy Valentine’s Day to one and all.
Yours truly,
Cheryl Leagan
