Ms. Porto’s 4’s newsletter

Hey all!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! This week we introduced the letter D. We also started a new literacy unit called Peter and the Wolf.

We started off the day on Monday with a dog sheet! The children had to recognize upper and lower case D’s. They also had to identify a few color words. Then we went to Spanish where we reviewed our family members and colors. We also talked about the hot and cold weather! When we returned from Spanish, we got in our own special spots and made a dalmatian dog! They all did so well so we decided to display them in our class!

Tuesday we worked on coloring in a doll. The children had to recognize upper and lower case D’s. They also had to identify a few color words. Then we went to P.E. where we worked on bear crawls and attempted back rolls! Boy was that tricky but so much fun! When we returned we worked on making a daisy. The children had to identify pictures starting with the letter D and then put them together in the shape of a daisy!

Wednesday we started off the day with coloring in pictures that start with the letter D. Since it was rainy out we had some extra play time inside. These kiddos sure do play nice together! They even played alphabet bingo all by themselves! Then we went to Art where we worked on our heart project! When we returned from Art, we got in our own special spots and made a duck! The duck was made out of circles and triangles!. Once lunch was finished we worked on recognizing upper and lower case D’s.

Thursday we started off the day with our Spanish special where we reviewed family words and shapes! We even got to roll dice to help with our numbers. When we returned from Spanish, we had a little extra time to play inside since it was so wet outside! Then we went to Music where we sang and danced! We even got to play hand drums with sticks! Mr. G was also nice enough to take our musical requests!. When we returned from Music, we worked on identifying pictures that start with the letter D. Then we had to put our fine motor skills to work for cutting and gluing! Everyone did a great job!

We closed out the week on Friday celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday! We had such a fun day! We made patterns, hats, read books, and did our scholastic! Dr. Seuss day was amazing!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! See you all on Monday!

Thank you,
Ms. Porto
