Class Update March 26 Week

Greetings Families,
SPRING BREAK IS NEXT WEEK! Here are some details about this week:

*Friday, March 30 is an EARLY DISMISSAL day. All children need to be picked up by 1:00. There will be no Treehouse services that afternoon.
*Thank you for signing up to bring in items for our apple item tasting this week and for our vegetable tasting in April. We truly appreciate all the things you do to help make our lessons a success.
*Progress Assessments for letters/sounds/words are being done this week. They will come home at the end of the week, and so will our classroom observations and quotes.
*For the children who have summer birthdays, we will be celebrating their “almost birthdays” in April and May. We will be in touch about some potential dates.
*Danny the Dog will be visiting the rest of our classmates over the next few weeks. Remember to give him a nice bath in your washing machine!
*If you are interested in being a Mystery Reader sometime before the end of the school year, please let us know – especially if you have not yet had a turn.
*Thank you so much for thinking of us during such a special week. Teacher Appreciation time is so special for the children, teachers, and parents because we all take a moment to let one another know that we care and that this school year has been special. Think of all that your kiddos have learned and accomplished, and how we have worked as a team to make that happen. ?

*Please save these dates:

Curriculum Notes for the Week:
*Morning Work: The children will take a few minutes to practice activities with the letter A. We are also working on printing our first and last names. After morning work, the children get to enjoy some playtime with their classmates.
*Happily Ever After (Peter and the Wolf): We will complete our unit by listening to and retelling the story, tracing, matching patterns, reviewing shapes and colors, and following directions.
*Letter (A): This week we will read books with letter A sounds. We will identify upper and lowercase A, determine pictures that begin with A, make ants on an apple, solve a hand-made alligator paper puzzle, and taste apple items.
*Science (Animals and the World Around Us): We will be learning about what plants need to grow, how they grow, and how many fruits (including apples) come from trees.
*Social Studies (My Place in the World): This week we will talk about maps, the globe, land, and water. We will also put together mini-booklets about where we live.
*Math (fun stuff): We will begin our new math unit when we return from Spring Break. This week, we will paint (by number) a spring picture and play some file folder games to review our pre-k math skills.

Our Mystery Reader this week will be Dr. Hill’s husband and son.

If there is anything we can do for you, please let us know.
Dr. Elizabeth Hill and Ms. Hannah Frary
