What a Celebration!

Just wow! I am SO proud of the knowledge and passion they showed for our Ancient Roman unit yesterday. The skits were simply amazing and I hope they all enjoyed the fun activities they did for this day. What a great – but wet – day it was!!!

What’s Going on in the Classroom?!
Reading: We are working on our “books” for the fiction novels they just finished in class which will be due on Monday, May 7. Their next (AND LAST!) book report has been introduced, so please refer to the papers coming home with them today for due dates.

Spelling: Lists should already be in their homework folders. Due to Field Day on Friday, our test for spelling will be on Thursday. Words for next week are: amateur, infectious, prompt, woe, absorb, invest, predict, slumber, negotiate, dreary, chill, picturesque, sufficient, pattern, grace, devotion, boast, actual, elegant, and inquire. Two spelling options will be due on Thursday.

Grammar: We are working through our last and final unit in grammar. Students are reviewing capitalization, abbreviation, underlining book titles, commas in a series, and parts of a letter.

Vocabulary: We have finished our vocabulary book, but have our final test on lessons 10-18 to prepare for. We will be reviewing these lessons through various activities in the weeks to come.

Math: Fractions…still! We have dabbled with comparing fractions, but will dive a little deeper next week. There will be a quiz over equivalent fractions, simplest form, and comparing at some point soon….

History: Our Ancient Roman unit is not over yet! Students will learn Roman Numerals next week.
