What’s Going on in our Classroom:
Reading: We are reading Frindle, by Andrew Clements and paying particular attention to answering comprehension questions, and providing a proof page for our answers. Our read aloud book is, City of Ember, by Jeanne DuPrau.
Spelling: The words are: fancy, absorb, serious, major, blurt, purpose, according, emphasize, involve, opinion, beaker, flask, weight, density, float, sink, materials, displace, estimate, and accurate. Homework is due Friday. Test Friday.
Vocabulary: Unit 3 (pages 26-33) The words include: active, bargain, grasp, loyal, resource, sensitive, struggle, value, vary, and wander. Don’t forget to have your child use www.vocabularyworkshop.com to study for the test on Friday.
Math: We are working on addition and subtraction with regrouping. We will also tackle more word problems.
Grammar: We will begin our unit on nouns and a unit on dictionary skills.
Writing: We are responding to journal questions about Frindle. Students are expected to indent their starting paragraph and write a minimum of 8-10 sentences for each response.
History: Students are learning about our neighbor to the north, Canada.
Science: We are wrapping up our investigation on volume, and will begin our exploration on density.
