Happy Constitution Day!

What a beautiful day we had to celebrate Constitution Day! We looked like rock-stars in our matching Wood Acres Shirts (yours for the keeping) and the hats that our book buddies helped make with us. We sat next to our book buddies and watched as the flag was taken down and a new one was put in its place and the kids chanted “WE THE PEOPLE”.

We are well in our way with The Little Bears and learned how to form the letter B this week. If you see them at home writing out that letter, please encourage them to form it correctly. While we aren’t focusing on handwriting this year, this will help them have a better foundation next year in Kindergarten when they continue with the Superkids program. We are continuing with our letter bag and will still do the letter B next week as it is a short week and some families will be out of town or on vacation. We will start a new letter on October 1!

In math I tried to trick the kids by counting in the wrong order or saying, “one, two, cat”. We went up to 10 and the kids did an amazing job listening and finding the mistakes. It’s a great activity to play with them while in the car or during dinner. They enjoyed it so much and loved hearing me make mistakes!

The October Snack Calendar is being sent home today so please check those folders! If there is a date on there that you cannot do, please let me know ASAP so I can try to get it covered for you! As a reminder, we are now a Tree Nut free classroom. Peanut butter is okay and shouldn’t cause a problem if your child has that for lunch but for the time being, we are asking for nothing with peanuts or tree nuts for snack. As a reminder, tree nuts include almonds, cashews, walnuts, pecans, pine nuts, macadamia nuts and pistachios.

Finally, we have NO SCHOOL OR TREEHOUSE on Monday, September 24th AND September 25th. Conferences will be held on those two days. If you forgot your time, please email me and I will let you know when you are scheduled. If you are unable to make it to your scheduled time, please also let me know!

If you are going on vacation or going out of town, have a great time! I look forward to hearing all about it!
