Salutations from Mrs. Leagan
Hello and Happy Saturday.
What an awesome day! The weather is perfect, our teams are winning, and October is just around the corner. Here’s some information to know as a new week and month begin.
This weekend, can you please help Mr. Ovbey, Mrs. Butcher, and I by helping your 4th grader research the mountain peak and range for your student’s World Mountain brochure? The information sheet should be in their red homework folder. Everybody started looking for facts last week but time just slipped away. If you can assist your student towards finding some information needed for their brochure, we would truly appreciate it. Mrs. Butcher, our Technology teacher, will teach our students how their information and Publisher can be used for this in- school project. We thank you very much.
On Wednesday, October 3, there will be a spelling test over novel Chapters 3 & 4 along with grammar words found in your student’s red homework folder. Look for homework to help your student get ready for this assessment.
Also, Wednesday, October 3, all 4th graders have Picture Day. We will be taking our class picture as well as any individual pictures that have been ordered. If you still need an order form, please let me know and I’ll send one home with your student.
We are nearly done with Unit 1 in our grammar book. Right now, there will be a grammar take-home quiz on Tuesday, October 2 that covers Lessons 5-7 and on Thursday, October 4 there will be Grammar Unit 1 test which covers Lessons 1-7. We’ve been reviewing in class but a little extra help is always a good idea.
On Friday, October 5, we will be ready for a reading quiz that covers Chapters 1-4 in Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. As we read each chapter, everybody is anxious and ready to keep reading more about Peter and Fudge. What else could a reading teacher want from her students?
Our time at the Fire Safety Village was informative and full of fun. Throughout the day, Firefighter Wilkins was quite impressed with our manners, friendliness, and knowledge towards the subject at hand. Thanks for your help in completing the lessons with your student in the workbook because all of the work really paid off. Again, we would like to thank Kimberly Wrenn and Kimberly Boyle for joining us, and to Keri Tomsic for our cool treats after our hot day.
That is all for now. Enjoy the last day of September and I’ll see you on October 1st.
