Delightful December

Hello and Happy Sunday.

First of all, last Friday was “muy buena”, “tres bon”, and simply awesome! Every student did a superb job presenting their country and telling us cute facts about how children in their country celebrate during this beautiful time of year. Please stop in and see the creative posters and decorations that are on display throughout my classroom.

Parents, Mr. Ovbey and I want to thank you for helping your student prepare for our Holidays around the World. We know that lots of time and energy went into baking, shopping, and planning for our special Holidays around the World celebration. We enjoyed visiting with all of the parents who joined us for a little while. Believe me; our students really liked having you at school, too.

A special shout out to Keri Tomsic for helping me throughout the entire day by arranging of the food for our dessert buffet and for helping me display all of the great projects around my classroom. Also, I really appreciate the number of moms who came to help serve the delicious foods. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Now, back to the academics of 4th grade: Monday, December 3, there will be a grammar quiz over the three simple verb tenses. We reviewed all last week, so everybody should be ready in the morning.

In Reading, we have begun The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. Your student will love the adventure into Narnia and the great storyline between Aslan, the Lion, and the White Witch. Thank you for listening to your student read the chapter that was covered in class that day, and I hope you get to enjoy this classic as well.

There will be a math-help session on Wednesday as we continue to work on 2, 3, and 4 digit multiplication with a little bit of long division practice as we check our work. Hope to see your student there.

The next book report presentation is on Monday, December 17. As of right now, most of our 4th graders have shown me their book choice, but if your student is still deciding, please let me know and we will find the perfect book from my shelves.

Our Winter Holiday Celebration will be Thursday, December 20 from 11:00-1:00. Keri Tomsic and Kimberly Boyle are busy planning and preparing for a fun festive day. More details to come as that day gets closer. On Thursday, December 20, dismissal will be at 1:00 that day with No Treehouse that afternoon.

Thanks for your time, and I hope you get to enjoy the rest of this sunny Sunday.

Yours truly,
Cheryl Leagan
