Welcome Mrs. Sandy Patel! We are so happy you joined our class!

It didn’t take Mrs. Patel anytime to learn our children nor our routines! She is a natural fit and the boys and girls love her! She has 3 children…….one daughter, Saayna, a Fourth Grader here in Mr. Ovbey’s class and 2 High Schoolers at Lovett.

It’s ironic we picked this week, a Spring-like week, to learn about Polar animals, but we made some pretty cool (pun) projects just the same. Ask your child to name a few Polar animals and why are most of them white. We learned a new word….camouflage. I hope you liked the polar bear in water and the penguins from the story, “Where is Home, Little Pip?” written by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman who also wrote, “The Bear Snores On”. I bet you can’t guess what we used to stamp the penguins? A half avocado with the seed removed! Pretty cool (pun)!

We also played games to review our letters from A-G. What better way to reinforce learning than to play games like “Feeding the Letter Muncher,” who only eats certain letters and, “Alphabet Bowling.” See the photo below of Bennett rolling the gigantic ball at the alphabet

Next week is all about Valentines and of course the letter H for hearts. Speaking of Valentines……our party is Thursday and we can’t hardly wait to pass out our specials cards and candy to our friends. Your child needs to bring to school 13 unaddressed cards for their classmates. They should sign their names on the back.

Please return the letter sent home Friday with the time for your conference. You can email me if that time does not work for you.

With this little burst of Spring comes thoughts of Summer and a reminder to reserve your child’s spot in our quickly filling camp @ the Woods. We can’t wait to share the fun filled Summer with your campers. Feel free to call the office with your questions.

Have a “hearty” week ahead,

Wanda and Sandy
