Marvelous March

Hello Everybody,

Yesterday was a fabulous day for all of our fourth grade readers! Thank you to all parents and visitors who joined us for this novel of a day. I hope you were just as impressed as I was with the book report presentations. They are all on display in our building, so please stop by and see the effort used towards this 3rd book report. The fourth and final book report will be due in May, but a date has not been decided yet. Details will come soon.

Not long now, and we will be on our way to the 4H Center on Jekyll Island. It’s been awhile since you received the packet of information, so if you do need another one, please let me know or visit their website at georgia4h.org. Hopefully, your student gave you the green sheet on what to pack, so gathering things can now begin.
Monday, March 11 – Friday, March 15 is the Book Fair. Please stop by and shop for your student’s summer reading along with the many books that will meet the needs of all readers.

We are moving rather nicely on 4th Grade’s Awesome Adventures book. Yesterday, everybody voted on the cover of our book, and Truxtun Boyle’s picture won! Daniel Tzanov and Parker Welchel will draw the page for the Dedication Page. Darby Hayes, Talia Tomsic, Damion Tomlinson, Caleb Evertt, Ainsley Parham, Jonathan Naddaf, Ariz Asfandiyar, Sophia Naddaf, Zoey Brathwaite, and Leah Feinberg will be the extra artists for the Bio Pages that are located at the back of the book. Congratulations to all artists! This will be one awesome book for sure.

Yesterday, your student received an order form for you to purchase your own copy of our book. Please do not feel obligated to buy one. However if you are purchasing a copy, please fill out the order form and return your payment and form to me before we leave for our field trip. Whether you are buying a copy or not, I must have all order forms and pages to the book sent together. Thank you and if you have any questions about this book project, please don’t hesitate to ask me.

Academically, all is moving forward quite nicely. Just a quick note that there will not be a spelling list for a while because our focus is towards finishing our book project to meet the deadline of Friday, March 29 However, finishing long division, measurements, adjectives, adverbs, and prepositions are still in the plans.
The 3rd grading period ends on Friday, March 15, and report cards will be sent home on Tuesday, March 26. Please note, Friday, March 29, we will dismiss at 1:00 with No Treehouse that afternoon. I do think all of us will be ready for a week of R&R after all of the madness that happened in March.

I do believe that is all for now. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and again, please stop in to see everybody’s book report projects. They are quite awesome.

Yours truly,
Cheryl Leagan
