Sunny Salutations

Hello and Happy Saturday!
I hope you are out and about enjoying this great day. I’ve just returned from one of my former student’s Bat Mitzvah and getting ready to celebrate and dance the night away with her and all of her friends and family. I absolutely love watching my students grow and change as they begin their life as an adult. I am quite proud of all my former students and I already adore all of my students in 2nd grade.

This upcoming week will be quite different than the first week of school because this past week was mainly reviewing concepts from last year. On Monday, we will be reading from our Journeys textbook, begin Chapter 1 on Addition and Subtraction, and we will start spelling, vocabulary, language arts, and so much more. Thank you for signing your student’s homework binder every night and please continue this good habit because it’s important for you to know what’s coming up and what subjects your student will need your support for the quizzes each Friday.

Hopefully, you have opened your student’s backpack because there is a lot of information and papers you want to take out and sort through for Monday. One day this week, your student will give us a quick presentation about themselves using 3-5 small items that tell us more about their recent journeys or some information about them. In addition, there is a paper cutout of a person that your student should create to make it look like him or her. Enjoy the journey and I am looking forward to getting to know my students a little bit better.

I believe that’s all for now. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I’ll see you on Monday.

Yours truly,
Cheryl Leagan
