Cheers to 50 Years!
Hello Everybody,
Wow, what an incredible weekend. Being in the East Cobb Parade on Saturday was so much fun. Thanks to those who came out to support and wave us on as we celebrated our awesome school. A huge thank you goes to Chloe Wolfe’s grandfather for driving Mrs. Thigpen and Mrs. Mazor in his BEAUTIFUL car. Believe me, it was the talk of the town. Then yesterday, as we celebrated 50 years of our great school, I realized how lucky I am to be apart of such an amazing staff. I love my job, the people I work with, all of my current and former parents, and the students that I get to teach each and everyday. I want to express a heartfelt thank you to you for allowing me to spend my days with your awesome 2nd grader. Cheers to 50 years! Tomorrow, your student will be bringing home their conference notice for you to confirm and sign that the day and time for your 2nd grader’s still works with your schedule. Thanks for returning the bottom portion on Wednesday, September 18. Also, tomorrow is Constitution Day, so Mrs. Thigpen would for all of us to wear our new white Constitution t-shirt to school. If it’s dirty then a red, white, and blue would work too. Thank you!

I know we had mentioned that we would try to avoid additional tests on Friday; however, we would both like to start fresh from Conferences with a new chapter. Therefore, the Chapter 1 Test will be Friday, September 27th. Students will be taking their final Check Your Progress on Thursday and will be taking home the Chapter 1 Practice Test for homework in preparation for their test on Friday.
History: We are just about finished with our Constitution unit!Students were sent home with a study guide last week. Their history test will be Wednesday, September 18th. This week we will be finishing their Constitution Flip books and reviewing more for our test. Our next uni twill be Geography!
Science: Our focus will be on learning and understanding Volume not the kind you pump up. This week, we will be working with our Beaker Buddies as our 2nd graders weigh and measure three different types of materials and figure out which one takes up more space or volume. Everybody is turning into very good scientists. It’s so nice to watch our young scientists’ work, predict, and analyze together. I hope you are hearing what’s going on each week in the Beaker Jr.
That’s all the information for now. I am looking forward to talking with you about your student during conference week. Enjoy your evening and the rest of this week.
Yours truly,
Cheryl Leagan
