Weekly Update Conferences Week

Hello Everyone!

We’ve had a great week here in second grade. We got to meet with our Book Buddies today and create some beautiful works of art. We did 1-tip painting and made some very festive, fall colored apples. I’m not sure anyone is more excited than I am to finally feel to cool air of fall!

Important Notes:
-There is no school or treehouse Monday, and Tuesday of next week. Monday, September 23rd and Tuesday, September 24th are Parent Teacher Conferences. Thank you so much to everyone for making this year’s schedule an easy one! I look forward to meeting with you all to talk about your wonderful children.
-Book Reports are due September 30th. Please be sure to look at these with your children this weekend as it takes time to plan out the sequence of events and practice reciting it.
-Picture Day for second grade will be Wednesday, October 2nd

This Week:
Language Arts: As this is a short week, we will not begin a new Journeys story. Instead, we will spend the week learning about folktales and writing our very own folktale as a class. Spelling Lists did go home on Friday. We will be having our normal weekly spelling homework and test.

Math: We finished our Chapter 1 test on Friday! We will be moving on to Chapter 2 once we return from conferences. Chapter 2 will be working on place value to 100.

History: We finished our Constitution Unit this week. The kids did a good job with their tests. A reminder that study guides are helpful and useful tools when preparing for our tests. We have reached a point now where the guides will be necessary in helping them to recall information. There is a lot of it now that they are hearing! Also, a big congratulations to those students who took the time and worked hard to study The Preamble. I am one proud teacher! Next week we will begin our new unit on Geography.

Science: Update to come from Mrs. Leagan!
