Weekly Update from Mrs. Pumphrey
Dear Parents,
Your children did an amazing job on their Canada vacation projects, and we greatly enjoyed every presentation. I loved the variety and how your children incorporated their interests and hobbies into their five days of travel. The projects will be on display in our commons area, so please make sure to drop by and take a look. I also want to take a moment and thank Sandy Piper for coming in on Thursday and serving crepes to our class. It was the perfect end to the presentations.

Save the Date:
Oct. 31st: Halloween Pajama & Movie Day with hot chocolate & donuts. We will be watching the movie, City of Ember. Campus cleanup in the afternoon beginning at 12:30. We are in need of more volunteers to help with trash patrol. Please let me know if you are interested.
Nov. 3rd: Wood Acres Fall Open House
Nov. 21st: Third grade Thanksgiving feast (Students & Teachers only) Mrs. Piper, Chris’s mom, will send out a Sign Up Genius enlisting the help for food items.
Important Notes:
Halloween: Official 3rd grade pajama and movie day! Join us at 12:30 for trash patrol on the Wood Acres campus. This should only take 45 minutes, and then students will head to the computer lab.
Sandwich Book Report: Our next book report is a mystery book. Books need to be approved by Mrs. Pumphrey on or before Nov. 1st. The book report is due on Friday, Dec. 7th. The information packet and project is going home Friday, Oct. 25th.
What’s Going on in our Classroom:
Reading: We continue reading Mr. Popper’s Penguins, and summarizing each and every chapter. Please stop by and take a look at our summaries at the back of our classroom.
Spelling: No spelling next week!
Vocabulary: No vocabulary next week!
Math: We are making progress on multiplication, and continue to work on problem solving as well.
Grammar: Finishing up nouns, and will take a grammar test on nouns.
History: Students are continuing to learn about the Vikings.
Science: More work in the Beaker Jr. learning about properties of matter, density, and buoyancy.
