Nov. 21st: Third grade Thanksgiving feast!
Nov. 22nd: 1:00 Dismissal. Our class will watch How to Train a Dragon that morning.
Important Notes:
Turkey in Disguise: Due Nov. 11th
Viking Longship Project: Due Dec. 4th
Sandwich Book Report: Our next book report is a mystery book. The book report is due on Friday, Dec. 6th. There is an example in the commons area of the Madison Building.
Service Project: Third grade will begin collecting cans for Must ministry Monday, Nov. 11th through Nov. 21st. There will be a basket to collect canned goods in the Madison Building commons area.
Supplies: We are in need of Clorox wipes to help us keep our desks clean. If you can send in a container that would be appreciated. Thank you!
What’s Going on in our Classroom:
Reading: We are working on a final project for Mr. Popper’s Penguins. We have started Time for Kids, and will have this assignment throughout the year.
Spelling: Words include: Thanksgiving, November, celebrate, feast, turkey, grateful, delicious, Thursday, cranberry, tradition, potatoes, harvest, cornucopia, gravy, stuffing, Native Americans, pumpkin pie, gobble, family, and bread .Test on Friday.
Vocabulary: Unit #8 words include:ancient, climate, cling, custom, decay, disturb, expose, perform, remote, and timid. Test on Friday.
Math: We are working on our 6’s, 7’s, 8’s and 9’s time tables next week. Please practice math facts every evening with your child!
Grammar: We have started our unit on verbs.
History: Students are continuing to learn about the Vikings. We will write several essays and type them up in the computer lab. We completed research on the Viking longships which will be helpful for the project due Dec. 4th.
Science: We are working on Properties of Matter Investigation #5, learning about buoyancy.
