Ettabetta, Ettabetta, Ettabetta, you!

Dear Parents!

I hope you all are gearing up for the winter break! I know this class sure is!

This week in Superkids, we continued to work with our new friend Ettabetta! We have worked on writing the letter E, secret codes, word list color code, and many more! This vowel won’t trick us!

In Math, we have finished chapter five, learning about numbers, and have moved on to chapter six which will focus on tables, graphs, and fractions! We started out learning how to make a tally mark and then were able to convert them to a chart! These kiddos are doing great with this!

Social studies this week had us focused on Hanukkah! On Friday we were able to join Mrs. Siegleman’s class for a special presentation from Sean’s mom, dad, and grandmother. They spoke about Hanukkah and how they celebrate at home! Did you know that Hanukkah lasts for 8 nights because the Jewish people found oil from their temple and it burned for eight nights when they only had enough for 1 night. What a miracle! We sure did enjoy learning about Hanukkah from Sean’s family, thank you again!

We began the week in Specials with our Stem class. During Stem we learned about different spiders. The kiddos made a jumping spider! I can’t wait for you all to see them! In Spanish, the kids continued to learn about their families and different holidays. Art this week had us tracing our handmade Santa’s with an oil pastel and then painting them to perfection. During computer lab, we participated in the hour of coding which means we learned coding games and even got to sign our names on the poster board! We sure feel pretty important 😉

We headed back to the lab this week for Science and continued to talk about labeling and observing details. This unit also focused on applying our senses to observation. We used all of our senses to record data for this Science lesson.

For a Fabulous Fun Friday treat, we got together with our 6th grade book buddy class and enjoyed lunch with them. Once lunch was finished, we decorated cookies together! Thank you so much to Luke’s mom for providing the yummy cookies! We sure did enjoy them and our time with our buddies!

We had our very last VIP this week! Charlotte was our VIP! Charlotte loves spaghetti and meatballs, her favorite place is Disney, and she wants to be a mermaid when she grows up! Thank you so much for sharing so many wonderful facts about yourself! We love it!

Don’t forget our word of the week is: Hanukkah

With love,
Ms. Porto & Ms. Kathie
