Super SUNNY Saturday

Hello Everybody,

Yes, it’s a super sunny Saturday and it’s definitely a welcome change. I sure hope you are outside enjoying all that can be done on a spectacular day like today. I will be outside soon and do whatever I can until the rain returns on Monday.

First of all, thank you for coming to your student’s conference. I hope you left feeling happy and confident that you have a great student working really hard towards becoming a third grader. If you feel we need to sit down again and chat about what’s to come for your student, I am always here for you.I want to give you a heartfelt thank you for all of the sweet treats that I received for Valentine’s Day.

Believe me, my family and are still enjoying every chocolaty bite, and my heart melted with the time and effort that went into every card and gift I received.I honestly appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness. Academically, we are moving on in all subject areas. In math, we have begun Geometry but our math
facts will not go away. As we work on geometry, we will begin our Mad Minute practice again, so those pesky math facts stay current and fresh in our heads at all times. Believe me; any kind of math fact practice at home will be helpful in the weeks to come.

Recently in Science,Mother Nature has partnered up nicely with our current investigations on precipitation, percolation, absorption, infiltration, and now runoff. We will complete Investigation 5 this week which means we are done investigating the Earth’s Surface and this entire science cell. After reviewing all we have learned about the Earth’s Surface, the final assessments will occur the first week of March along with a field trip to the Tellus Museum on Wednesday, March 11. There will be more details about this field trip coming home soon.

In Reading, we will read the story Penguin’s Chick and learn about the “er” sound at the end of words. We will learn the new vocabulary words as well as get ready for all of the Friday assessments. Don’t forget, the biography book report is due MONDAY, MARCH 2. Your student brought home the guidelines and rubric just in case it was needed to complete this reading assessment.Take care and please take some time to enjoy the weekend and the beautiful weather. I’ll be in touch soon.

Yours truly,
