Parent Update (and Homework :) for the week

Hope you all had a nice weekend. We have a busy week ahead…ready, set, go!!

We will focus on the letter S, as we continue with our Alphabet unit. As always, please remember to review with your child the letters covered thus far. We especially ask that you concentrate on those of his/her name.

The additional topics of learning will be Seeds/planting and Earth Day. We have several hands on activities/experiments planned for the week. We are asking for your help to complete one such project…it’s a simple (and tasty) task. We need seeds of all kinds to use on a display board, as we will compare seeds. Please either enjoy a delicious food with a seed or purchase a packet to send in with your child. Please put in zip lock bag, and label with child’s name and type of seed. This can be sent in any day this week, this is an ongoing display through the week.

As always, thank you for your continued support! We will have pictures to share of our week of learning and fun.

Sincerely,

Liesel West

Parent Update

I hope you and your families are enjoying this weekend! Hopefully, between the sunshine and rain, you have gotten outdoors! Thank you to all who joined me for Parent-Teacher Conferences, and I look forward to catching up with others in the weeks ahead.

We enjoyed welcoming back the children fro Thursday and Friday fun! They were all refreshed and eager to see friends! Ms. Phillips and I received huge hugs and many stories of their adventures while away for a few days! We filled Thursday and Friday with many hands on (messy😊) activities. We hope your child arrived home and shared the days experiences! Brush painting, play-dough, sandbox, finger painting, and shaving cream play were among the top of the list!

Upcoming:
Letters “Ii” and “Jj”…think homemade Ice-cream AND jam! It will be a tasty week of learning at Wood Acres!
Healthy Habits Unit: this will encompass the benefits of healthy eating, physical activity, dental health, and keeping those yucky germs at bay!
We will welcome Miss Judy, a local dental hygienist, who will do a child friendly presentation on the importance of dental health.
Friday we will celebrate Dr. Seuss with a rendition of “green eggs and ham” for snack.
Please have your child bring in one Dr. Seuss book from your home collection any day this upcoming week. Each child can share his/her favorite book with the class, I will take time to read each in circle time. Please label book with name so it will be returned accordingly by weeks end.

Thank you all for your support!

Parent Upddate

Happy Soggy Sunday!! I hope you all have enjoyed a happy, healthy weekend. We look forward to a fun week ahead at Wood Acres.

Current:
*Review of letters Aa-Ff was a success. We enjoyed playing letter matching games, reading books, and making the Letter Wheel. Please continue to review with your child.
*The children especially enjoyed the week-long unit on hibernation. We read many books about bears and other animals who hibernate, as well as created a hibernation/migration graph. We tucked our very own class bear in for the Winter, and plan to wake him come Spring. To close out the week of hibernation, everyone dressed in PJ’s and enjoyed a fun edible bear craft/snack!
*Let The Games Begin! We talked briefly about the Winter Olympics and created the Olympic Rings to kick off the games! We hope you enjoy watching the events with your families!

Upcoming
*Letters Gg and Hh
*Valentine Party will be on Wednesday, February 14th
*As per the hardcopy sent home in folders, please send 16 UNADDRESSED cards for your child to pass out to classmates. We will create a Valentine bag with each child so they can collect all those sweet love notes 🙂 on Wednesday.

Enjoy the remainder of your weekend!
