Only At Wood Acres Home / About Us / Only At Wood Acres Choosing Wood Acres School We know that parents have a lot of choices for their child’s education. So, why do families choose Wood Acres School and stay with us until their child graduates? It’s because so many wonderful things happen at our private school, #OnlyAtWoodAcres. Let us tell you more! Leaders of All Ages At Wood Acres, our students learn to be leaders and help make our school and community a better place. Even our preschoolers have jobs in their classrooms to help them be more independent. They also spend time with older children, called book buddies, for fun learning and activities. As they get older, they keep building their leadership skills. Elementary students work with classmates and older middle school friends on special projects and lessons. They also practice talking in front of others, which helps them become strong leaders. In middle school, students take on even bigger leadership roles. They help plan school events, join leadership groups, and run the student government. Some even become Student Ambassadors to welcome new families! Destination – The Wood Acres Advantage Attending Wood Acres from preschool through 8th grade gives our students continuity as they build upon the foundation of their education. We backward map our rigorous curriculum. This means that we look at what we would like students to achieve when they graduate 8th grade. We purposefully collaborate to guide and nurture our students to this milestone. This is the Wood Acres Advantage! Our students develop a strong sense of community, sense of self, and purpose that follows them through their high school years and beyond. Families, staff, and students believe in this advantage and add to our rich legacy each day. Outdoor Opportunities Abound Wood Acres is nestled on nine beautiful acres in the heart of East Cobb. We understand the importance of using our campus for many learning opportunities. We gather as a school community for large school-wide events and for small classroom moments of learning. Students walk to class across our outdoor campus, enjoy picnic lunches on the campus quad, have daily recess time, build sandcastles in our giant sandbox, and even highlight their learning for parents and the larger school community in the outdoor classroom.
