After School Programs

This year the Wood Acres chorus will shine, glitter, and glow just like the Chromatic Scales! No auditions necessary-just a song in your heart and the enthusiasm to perform! Chrome is open to all 2nd-5th grade students who love music, enjoy singing and playing, and have an interest in performance!  Performance repertoire will include many styles.

Engineering For Kids brings science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), to kids in Kindergarten – 5th grade in a fun and challenging way. Engineering For Kids inspires children to build on their natural curiosity by teaching engineering concepts through hands-on learning. Engineering is, after all, one of the fastest growing industries in the world!

Soccer Shots is a uniquely designed program that will introduce soccer to your child in a fun, safe, and controlled environment.  The program also emphasizes character-forming lessons such as fair play, individual concentration, cooperation, and encouragement.  Open to students 4 years old – 3rd grade.  Offered to 3-year-old students in the Spring semester.

LEGO® and K’nex® learning at its best!  Specially designed LEGO® and K’nex Education kits and tools not found in stores are used to introduce children to the fundamentals of physics and mathematics while encouraging social interaction through team “buddy building”.  Brainy builders is offered to students in 1st – 4th grade.

Abrakadoodle!  Ready, Set, Create!  Learn about the Bull’s Eye painting technique and create interesting effects using crayons that disappear then magically re-appear when we paint. Discover Artists of Distinction in a standards-based program through Abrakadoodle’s Art in Our World. Not only does the program exceed the National Standards for the Visual Arts but it also includes cross-curricular lessons in the areas of Math, Literacy, Science and Social Studies.   Open to 4 year old students – 1st grade.

What’s For Lunch young chefs will love working alongside classmates to create everything from basic wholesome snacks to complete meals that the whole family will enjoy!  Rodger Rodgers, the owner and head chef of What’s For Lunch, will offer these hands-on classes to encourage kids to get involved in the actual preparation, cooking and cleanup of their food as well as enjoying the end product.  Cooking club is offered to students in the 4-year-old program – 1st grade.

We teach students to code using the popular Scratch programming language developed by M.I.T.  We also use Python, JavaScript, CSS & HTML.  Learn to code and change the world!

Chess Atlanta provides more young students the opportunity to learn in a chess club environment and to help foster good sportsmanship among the growing number of young chess players.  Chess Atlanta provides kids with learning puzzles, videos, articles, and opportunities to play other kids online in a safe environment.  Open to 1st – 8th grade students.

Kids TV is a filmmaking program that allows the voice of kids to be heard.  Through Kids TV, kids acquire the practical and technical training needed to transform their imaginations into reality.  Kids TV creates a fun learning environment for the kids of today to become the filmmakers and producers of tomorrow.  Open to 4th – 8th grade students.

A fall sport season introducing students to basics and fundamentals of youth sports.  Including flag football, field hockey, t-ball, kickball, basketball, hockey, and golf.  Students will be encouraged in group and team play, active lifestyle habits, development of character values, and more!
